SOS Personnel is urgently hiring a SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware License and Special Education Teacher Certification (K-12) in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
  • Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of special education laws and requirements
  • Successful completion of Praxis II exams
DESIRED EXPERIENCE (BUT NOT REQUIRED):

  • Elementary Education certification
  • Experience in elementary education setting
  • Experience in creating and implementing IEPs
  • Data collection experience

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Effectively support caseload of student receiving special education services offering access to the general education curricula through adaptations out lined it the students IEP.
  • Develop and support implementation of an Individual Education Plans (IEP) based on the state and federal regulations
  • Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
  • Collect and use data to monitor progress of student’s goals
  • Collaborate with general education teacher to provide access to content standards and materials for student receiving special education services
  • Effectively plan and organize and implement instructional practices by collaborating with the general education
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction using research based best practices
  • Provide equitable access for students with disabilities through instructional and behavioral supports
  • Remain up to date with best practices for creating and implementing IEPs
  • Maintain an open line of communication with families about student progress on a regular basis
  • Performs other duties as assigned
PRE EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Favorable Criminal Background Check - Must be less than 1 year old
  • Child Abuse Registry Check - Must be less than 1 year old
  • Tuberculin Test
  • Copy of Social Security Card - required by the State of Delaware
  • I-9 Form with appropriate forms of identification
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
