What We Are Looking For

This position supports Baylor’s mission by facilitating academic excellence through library services, particularly in the arenas of supplying materials essential for student success, academic research, and life-long learning. The four cornerstones of our objectives are collaborative campus engagement in the selection of resources, efficient content delivery and management, effective description that facilitates discovery, and intuitive arrangement of our physical and digital collections. Essential functions include managing a unit responsible for supplying library monograph and media materials (in all formats) to university community. Duties include working directly with internal stakeholders and external vendors to provide efficient, cost-effective access to library materials.

A Bachelor’s Degree and two years of relevant work experience is required. A Master’s Degree and four years of relevant work experience is preferred. A combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree and/or years of experience. 

Applicants must currently be authorized to work full-time in the United States. 

What You Will Do

Unit Supervision Supervises and manages the Monograph Acquisitions group (3 staff), responsibilities include hiring and training personnel, determining work priorities, creating team schedules, assigning tasks, monitoring process workflows, performing operational assessments, troubleshooting issues related to personnel and processes, and conducting performance evaluations Address Complex Library Material Requests Works with patrons, vendors and staff to resolve problematic library materials requests which will require independent decision-making and oversight of communications between parties, including coordinating the resolution of information technology issues with 3rd party suppliers Review and Approve Payments Review and approve unit invoices that have been submitted for payment through the library system (Alma) for weekly batch-loading into university's cloud platform (Ignite/Oracle) Fund Allocation and Oversight Performs day-to-day oversight of funds associated with the purchasing of monograph and media in all formats, includes endowments as well as general materials budget funds Special Projects Special projects that involve the analysis of past purchasing trends, the examination of resource usage, the adoption of new technologies, the improvement of processes, etc. Ability to comply with University policies  Maintain regular and punctual attendance  Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
