Position Overview

Responsible to provide excellence in teaching through the fulfillment of the missions and strategic goals of the School of Business.

References will be checked upon scheduling interview. What will I do in this position? Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Teach undergraduate courses in Data Analytics such as Business Analysis, Principles of Data Analytics, Data Mining, Big Data Analytics and Visualization, and Business and Economic Forecasting. Teach other courses within the School of Business commensurate with departmental needs and individual expertise. Abide by all University policies. What will it take to succeed in this position? Minimum Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field required; DBA or Ph.D. in Data Analytics or related field preferred. Minimum of three years working experience in business and experience in the course related field. Experience in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level, or in non-academic settings. Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in higher education preferred. Experience and participation in one or more professional Data Analytics organizations such as IEEE Big Data, Data Science Association, or Digital Analytics Association, or ACM’s Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining preferred. Experience using the following: Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, MapReduce, Hive, Python Programming, R Programming, Spark, NoSQL and PolyBase preferred. Availability to teach course during daytime class schedule is preferred. Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain a flexible schedule Ability to integrate Christian worldview into classroom instruction Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous and tactful manner Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and problem solving skills Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills Ability to type 30 wpm and to efficiently and accurately use the computer to carry out job responsibilities Understanding of and agreement with Northwestern’s Declaration of Christian Community and Doctrinal Statement is essential Ability to pass the background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
