We are seeking a highly motivated individual to be a Sr Product Technical Manager within the Global Data & Analytics team. The Product Technical Manager would lead and own multiple products within the Global Data & Analytics team, from an engineering lead standpoint. This role is responsible for prioritizing multiple technical product backlogs, balancing new features, functional requirements, non-functional requirements and requests across teams and coordinating deployments with other Product Owners in the Data & Analytics team. The Product Manager requires the experience or proven aptitude to develop detailed domain knowledge of multiple products. The Product Manager oversees what work goes to development squads as the lead technology business representative and decision-maker, working in tandem with the product team.

In this role, you will own responsibility for delivering data initiatives across our data product landscape, to globally improve and progress McDonalds to a world class data product organization. Partner with business customers and stakeholders to define and deliver the associated technical data product solutions using a mix of internal and external (vendor) resources and products and ensure successful integration with existing McDonald’s systems.

Responsibilities

1. Product knowledge and strategy for the future - Technical and business understanding

a) Mastery of your product

Serve as an expert going deep on how your products work. Understand the data ingest, transform, load, table structures -both inbound and outbound Understand the technical components of your products and be able to identify key stakeholders Recognize product performance from an end-user standpoint including data quality, responsiveness, reliability, etc. Be able to engage in a conversation on all facets of your products, and require others’ input only to go particularly deep Develop the data product’s target technical roadmap and key technology decisions to deliver the roadmap.

b) Mastery of the technology involved in your product

Be able to engage in discussions regarding whether your product is using the right solutions, and always looking forward to continuously evolve and improve Be able to understand the issues involved in major decisions and provide feedback on architecture, even in areas you are not an expert in Collaborate with Data & Solution Architects to launch scalable and reliable data solutions, support system integration efforts, and create operational efficiencies through automation and process improvements Manage technical interdependencies and interfaces of their product with other systems and products Establish best practices for identifying, analyzing and managing technical risks. Responsible for testing strategy and the quality of the outputs of the internal/external development teams Provide people leadership for data engineers, professional development and engineering resources allocated to the product Define critical non-functional requirements that sustain throughout the data product lifecycle Participate in release preparation and planning Manage temporary solutions and technical debt at the squad level Serve as subject matter expert across all McDonald’s data systems. Participate on data quality initiatives.

c) Mastery of the innovations in your product

Form and constantly update a viewpoint on how your product fits into the broader domain Architect and define a systems landscape to connect data flows across all McDonalds Data systems. Constantly re-evaluate how your product is delivering value to the customer/end user/etc. and pivot as neededFor example: We should be doing X, Y, Z for completeness in terms of delivering on end-user needs. How do we evolve our products to be complete in order to drive the thinking of the product?

2. Stakeholdering / Customer Obsession - Keeping customers top of mind

a) Own the product roadmaps

Continually manage the product roadmaps to support product vision and to deliver on key business priorities Map the product roadmaps to a single product release plan and provide visibility to markets and other business stakeholders Maintain documentation of product roadmap and provide visibility to the markets and other business stakeholders Actively manage and drive accountability of 3rd party technology vendors Ability to synthesize information and communicate effectively to a broad range of stakeholders

b) Be customer obsessed - ensure your products are working well and evolving appropriately

Ensure features are built for global functions and markets Conduct business acceptance of features and epics according to the definition of done Conduct regular end-user product feedback sessions and enhance products accordingly Be an advocate for the end-user experience Leverage your team to ensure these aspects are being accounted for

3. Collaboration Capability - Working with others across the organization

a) Be the catalyst for collaboration

Join forces with other Product Managers across the organization to ensure alignment and coordination across products as necessary for multi-product work and initiatives Partner with Initiative Leads & Stakeholders to maximize value delivery

b) Own the product backlogs

Participate in Intake Product Triage and decompose ideation tickets into Epics & Features with the help of the BTA, Project managers and deployment managers Prioritize the product backlog for all products

4. Capacity and Resource Management - Managing your product team

a) Manage capacity and demand for team

Manage allocated resource and capacity including development, market enablement, bug resolution, and testing and reevaluate based on prioritized roadmap Leveraging the product roadmap and release plan, provide capacity forecasting to Demand Management so they can engage third parties in advance when additional support or capacity is required Guide work through McDonald’s Demand Management Process Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or related field is required. 8+ years of technically focused experience in related technologies and languages (Web Services, Java, XML, S3, NoSQL, Kafka, Spark, etc.) Hands-on with Event, Workflow and Application driven Data Architecture. API and Microservices management Working knowledge of cloud-based data systems, including AWS and GCP Seasoned technical leader with hands-on development and deployment experience with insights into the newest technology and development trends. Experience partnering with stakeholders across an at-scale, complex, global matrix org structure Experience with DevOps and data reliability engineering Experience leading large cross functional teams to align and deliver projects. A passion for innovation and superior problem-solving skills A passion for new technologies and the drive to find ways to implement better tools and processes Deep understanding of business, information, technical architecture (e.g. architecture principles design, deployment models), security Experience with creating and executing testing strategies for functional, integration and performance testing Experience developing solutions that provide high levels of resilience and scale. Experience in Agile product development Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions with stakeholders of all levels of expertise Active coach and mentor whose goal is to grow and maximize team members’ potential.
