Qualified candidates will be professional in demeanor and approach to managing the daily operations of a busy kitchen operation. Beyond professionalism, they also require that candidates possess excellent communication skills as well as the ability to lead a kitchen staff by example through exhibiting a strong work ethic and an unquestionable commitment to providing every guest with a consistently incredible experience.

To be considered for this position applicants must also have the following attributes and qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Must have a general knowledge of baking. They have a pastry chef, but the ideal candidate must also be comfortable with baking and pastry. Able to effectively schedule and manage all kitchen employees to meet business needs and control costs. Strong computer skills and ability to use an inventory control system and online ordering program. Have a strong understanding of labor management and be able to meet or exceed goals for labor and COGS projections. Have a strong understanding of food costs. Be savvy about dynamic menu engineering and able to plan and execute multiple menu offerings efficiently in a cost-effective manner. Willing to properly train and foster both current employees and new hires to promote their development. Establish and maintain a strong connection with all front-of-house employees and communicate with them openly and effectively. Possess strong comprehension of basic kitchen accounting Develop and execute seasonal menu changes Able to ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Knowledge and experience with plant-based cooking and techniques is a plus, but not required Knowledge of traditional cooking, including American and International cuisine, is required

Requirements:

Applicants should have both the basic ServSafe food handler certification and the ServSafe Manager certification. Be able to perform all physical demands that are generally associated with a sous chef position. All candidates must be fluent in English and able to write and speak English. The ability to communicate conversationally in Spanish is helpful but not required. 4+ years as a chef, sous chef, or kitchen manager in a high-volume restaurant or café environment.
