Job Summary:

As a cashier, you are the first person a Customer sees as they walk through the door and the last person they work with when they leave. You fully understand and appreciate that West Marine exists to provide excellent Customer service and expert product knowledge.

We are Boaters serving Boaters with a mission of More Water, Less Hassle Our Customers come to us to fulfill a need, complete a project on their boat, or gather items for a great day on the water; you guide your team to ensure Customers leave with the right products to make that happen. Duties/Responsibilities:

Greet incoming customers with company approved greetingAnswer phones announcing your name and where you can direct their callCoordinates with retail staff for product inquires and price checksResolves escalated issues with angry customersInforms customers about services available and assess customer needsScan products, operate scanning equipment and fix scanning issuesHandles cash, credit and on-account transactionsProcess credit and debit cards, helping customers with processing equipmentMaintain cash control over register drawer and verify amounts are correctTakes deposits for Special OrdersProvide receipt and any additional paperwork to customer upon completion of transaction.Bags purchases as neededProcess return transactions following company return policyDirects customers to product location in store upon requestProcess put backs as neededComplete all training and review all SOPs for positionTrain and sometimes supervise new cashiersKeeps point of sale area neat, cleaned, and organized and properly stocked with suppliesAssistance in the maintenance of store front and retail displaysHelps stock shelves in proximity of the cash registerAvailable to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends and some holidays.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.
