Title:  Procurement Director

Reports To:  President and CEO

The Procurement Director is responsible for strategically leading the procurement department and developing and executing Corporate Procurement Strategies that will enable the company’s aggressive growth plans. The Procurement Director is a member of the executive leadership team and oversees inbound material ordering and related procurement activities, supplier management, sourcing decisions, and the storeroom. The ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably with low volume and high product mix.

Core Responsibilities:

Develop and implement corporate strategic sourcing strategies to harness economies of scale, drive economic value, manage supply chain risk, and enable business growth. Set objectives that align with broader organizational goals. Break down objectives into appropriate initiatives and actions. Stage activities with relevant milestones and schedules. Manage the daily planning, execution, control, and monitoring of all procurement related activities. Develop standard work and business processes for the procurement department and collaborate with other departments on any crossover activities. Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders as well as with external suppliers to meet the company’s business objectives and the needs of customers. Maintain and develop positive business relationships with internal customers throughout the entire procure to pay cycle. Lead the negotiation process with suppliers to deliver outsourced material, products, and services that meet the company’s expectation for quality, budget, and on-time delivery. Proactively participate in problem resolutions including meeting with staff and suppliers to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action and resolution. Identify and manage risk within the supply base; proactively suggest contingencies to mitigate them. Evaluate and monitor contracts to be sure that suppliers and related materials, systems, and/or services comply with the terms and conditions of the agreements and contracts and to determine need for changes. Develop procurement forecasts and a plan of action that considers the business demands and changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, products, services, and materials. Build and leverage relationships and networks across the organization. Use professional influence skills rather than position power to persuade others and gain support. Manage and develop procurement team members to reach their full potential and achieve company goals. Manage the receiving process, item storage and disbursements, and related storeroom activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field required. 5 to 10 years of supply chain experience in an industrial manufacturing organization of highly engineered products, across multiple locations required. 3+ years of people management experience required. Strong business acumen with 3+ years of experience managing a budget and delivering year-over-year purchased material cost reductions required. Experience working in precision machining and/or automation industries preferred. Experience with buying steel commodity (precision machining) and electro-mechanical components (automation) preferred. Experience working with LEAN/Six Sigma preferred.

Desired Soft Skills:

Excellent time management skills. Ability to participate effectively in meetings and utilize peoples' time efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Strong presence with exceptional communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation.
