Position Summary:

The Assistant Superintendent of Student Achievement and Accountability is a visionary leader dedicated to promoting excellence and equity in education across Oklahoma City Public Schools. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all students, regardless of background, have equitable access to a world-class education that prepares them for successful futures within a healthy, vibrant community. The Assistant Superintendent will oversee the development and implementation of rigorous academic standards and accountability systems that support every student in fulfilling their unique purpose. This position will also lead efforts to assess and enhance educational outcomes, ensuring that all students graduate ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Essential Duties: 1. Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure): Lead and Enhance Instructional Planning: Spearhead the district's instructional operations planning, ensuring alignment with educational standards and long-term strategic goals. Regularly review and adjust plans based on student performance data and stakeholder feedback. Curriculum Development and Implementation: Direct the creation and ongoing refinement of curricula to ensure it meets diverse student needs and complies with state standards. Include mechanisms for regular review and updates based on technological advancements and educational research. Assessment Oversight: Manage the district’s student assessment frameworks, ensuring they accurately measure educational outcomes and inform instructional improvements. Establish protocols for periodic reviews and compliance checks. Professional Development Oversight: Implement and supervise a comprehensive professional development program that aligns with curriculum needs and teacher career growth, ensuring consistent delivery and evaluation of training programs. 2. Great People (Talent Management): Continuous Improvement in Instructional Quality: Develop and continuously monitor improvement plans aimed at enhancing instructional quality across the district. Establish clear performance metrics and regular review cycles. Educator Professional Growth: Develop comprehensive professional development opportunities tailored to the needs of all certified educators, ensuring alignment with district goals and educator career pathways. Collaborative Human Resource Strategies: Collaborate with the Human Resources department to align professional development and staffing strategies, fostering an environment of continuous learning and adaptation. 3. Great Culture (Systems Leaders): Professional Engagement and Collaboration: Actively participate in a broad spectrum of educational forums to remain informed on best practices and emerging trends. Foster partnerships with other agencies to pool resources and knowledge that support educational enhancements. Resource Sharing Initiatives: Initiate and manage collaborations with external agencies to share resources and create a richer learning environment, ensuring these partnerships are evaluated annually for effectiveness and relevance. 4. Great Systems (Support & Accountability): Strategic Oversight and Evaluation: Provide strategic oversight for setting and evaluating district goals and objectives, ensuring they are measurable and aligned with both local and national standards. Budget Management and Compliance: Oversee budget preparation and management for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Implement audit mechanisms to detect and address discrepancies. Technology Integration and Data Analysis: Leverage technology to enhance educational outcomes and operational efficiency. Ensure data collected is used to inform decisions and forecast needs effectively, with privacy and security protocols strictly adhered to. Program Evaluation and Reporting: Direct the evaluation of district programs, ensuring reports are generated and shared with stakeholders to facilitate transparency and continuous improvement. Establish guidelines for rigorous program evaluation methodologies. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities): Master's Degree in School Administration or related degree  Current Superintendent certification through the Oklahoma State Department of Education A minimum of 10 years of successful experience as a teacher, principal, or administrator Demonstrated effective senior-level leadership experience in a public school district  Strong data analysis skills Demonstrated abilities related to strategic and tactical skills in thinking and problem-solving, proven skills and experience in strategic planning, communicating a vision and goals to others, and effectively implementing action plans throughout an organization  Ability to lead change initiatives resulting in improved academic achievement  Effective, positive human relations abilities in working with students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, governmental agencies, businesses, and community groups Knowledge of best practices, continuous improvement strategies, and high expectations for performance; commitment to maintaining high standards and increasing accountability for results at all levels Advanced written, verbal, and listening skills Excellent public relations, leadership, facilitation, management, decision-making, and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities): Doctoral degree in an education-related field of study Physical/Mental Requirements: Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer. Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret, and transcribe written material and other required duties.  Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.  Requires some stooping, bending, stretching, and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds. Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Work may periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions to meet business needs and strict deadlines.  Work Environment: Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate-controlled environment.
