Overview

JOB SUMMARY The staff Speech and Language Therapist functions under the general supervision of the Manager of Rehab Services. The staff Speech and Language Therapist assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and provides speech and language therapy evaluations, education and treatments in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care. The Staff Speech and Language Therapist may be assigned to orient staff and students and to assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual. The Speech and Language Therapist participates in performance improvement and program development activities. Responsibilities include providing input into the budgetary planning process; contributing to cost effectiveness of services and programs provided by the department; communicating the employee’s observations and suggestions related to opportunities for improvement; and maintaining positive relations with all customers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Professional & Technical Skills Good communication skills, ability to apply the theory of speech-language therapy, competency in performing speech-language therapy evaluations, treatments and education. Education Graduate of an accredited program of speech-language therapy culminating in a minimum of a master’s degree. License(s) or Certification(s) Current licensure in Speech and Language Pathology in the State of Indiana. Certified by ASHA for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology or Clinical Fellowship Year Registration.
