Key Requirements
Must be a current, permanent FBI employee. The individual that fills this position will potentially be exposed to situations or information that depicts violent acts, lewd images, or involves isolated working conditions. As a condition of employment, DNA samples are required from all FBI personnel who interact with evidence or federal DNA database samples in Laboratory Division (LD) space or whose work requires them to enter LD examination areas where evidence or DNA database samples are processed or examined as part of the quality control process to detect sample/evidence contamination, in accordance with the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA), 75 Federal Register (FR) 68932; 29Major Duties
Serve as the direct supervisor of Quality Assurance Specialists and other positions within the unit. Assign and delegate responsibilities among subordinates, direct and review the work of others, assist other senior leaders to set and achieve unit performance measure expectations and other priorities. Manage various administrative aspects of the unit to include strategic planning, day-to-day prioritization of work, human resource planning and management, budget planning and execution, collaborating with other units within the LD, and preparing performance evaluations. Support all areas of quality assurance by liaising with the LD Quality Manager on emerging quality matters, determining daily resourcing requirements and allocating work to staff as needed while overseeing quality assurance and training topic areas that are necessary to maintain laboratory accreditation. Provide customer support services to the LD through the oversight of quality programs while gathering feedback to incorporate as part of a continuous improvement model. Support FASU Chief by ensuring completion of required reviews of FASU documents and records and facilitate the content review of Level 1 LD documents while adhering to applicable FBI policies, internal and external accreditation requirements and leveraging knowledge of quality assurance practices while developing, reviewing and editing LD requirements.Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience in Quality Assurance concepts, operating principles, regulations and methodologies to evaluate and resolve complex conditions applicable to the forensic laboratory and administrative operations and procedures. Experience in the application of principles of forensic science to analyze and resolve very complex and sensitive Quality Assurance problems in broad and diverse forensic disciplines. Experience in division policies, programs, regulations, missions and objectives as they relate to the analysis of forensic evidence to ensure all quality practices are within regulatory guidelines. Experience in written and oral communications skills to prepare and present audit and quality assurance reports, policies, documentation and briefings. The Supervisor Essentials course is a pre-requisite for the new Leading People (Virtual) and face-to-face version (VLP) that will be offered beginning the 2nd Quarter of 2022. Limited Movement : Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. HRD will waive this limited movement policy for qualified employees, who have received an official notification letter that their current position is being relocated to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama by 2024, so those employees can compete for a position elsewhere. Probationary employees are precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until 12-months of their 24-month probationary period has concluded. Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Memorandum for Record: Work performed outside assigned duties (that would not normally be documented on a SF-50, i. e., back-up duties), has to be documented in detail by an immediate supervisor in order to receive full credit for amount of time worked in that position.
