Magnesium Melt Mechanic

Under general supervision, responsible for the set-up and operation of Mag Cell used in production processes. Work from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Shift between activities as production demands, determine and correct more complex machine malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.

Performance Expectations

· Support and maintain department lean initiatives.

· Maintain department 5S requirements.

· Responsible for maintaining documents such as check list and temp sheets.

· Has the ability to use all the equipment safely and correctly.

· Execution of all functions of the Mag Cell

· Starting up of the high pressure die-casting machines.

· Collaborate and work within continuous improvement teams on plant projects.

· Able to diagnose errors.

· Work to continuously improve all areas of productivity and reduce scrap.

· Have the flexibility and willingness to learn and help in other areas of the facility.

· Assist other team members with troubleshooting and machine operations as needed and work in a team environment.

· Promote positive employee and company culture.

· Submit and implement lean and safety suggestions.

· Set up, operate, and coordinate operation of various production equipment.

· Interact with co-workers, including mechanics and machinists, to relay new information and safety precautions, to receive instructions or to instruct others how to perform new jobs.

· Understand when machine adjustments are needed or required, and know the proper steps to take to improve the quality of product.

· Other responsibilities as needed by Supervisor.

Credentials

· High School Graduate or equivalent.

· Two to Four years of Manufacturing experience a plus.

· High Pressure Die Casting a plus.

· Ability to work independently when needed.

· Must be a team player and work with the team which includes mechanics, machinists, fellow operators and management to ensure that machines are used efficiently and work priorities are well managed.

· Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience.

· Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms to various levels within the organization.
