POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Technician at the Science and Innovation Center assists the Process Engineer and the Manager of the Science and Innovation Center in preparing and conducting trials. Additional responsibilities may include precisely weighing ingredients and mixing dough for process testing. Additionally, the Process Technician will be responsible for maintaining organization of ingredients in the warehouse and some shipping/receiving.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Assists in carrying out process support and development, new product development and quality control Leads customer and internal trials, assisting in equipment set-up, process support and new product development
2. Helps to run trials together with customers or independently, including direction of others present in a support capacity. Works with customers or independently, to achieve trial objectives
3. Selects raw materials and other ingredients from Documents and records trial data including process settings, and quality control test results
4. Manages and participates in the maintenance and sanitation of facility test equipment. Selects raw materials and ingredients from warehouse and storage
5. Addresses issues of safety and quality Participates in maintenance of facility test equipment
6. Participates daily in cleaning and sanitation practices throughout the facility including doors
7. Actively participates in maintaining a safe work environment

OTHER FUNCTIONS
1. Actively participates in the customers’ trials, research and development efforts.
2.Traveling to customer sites, domestic & internationally, for equipment line commissioning and process support (include estimated travel time 15-20%)

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to use mechanical tools, electrical equipment and cleaning equipment.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills required to effectively interact with all levels of Company management and staff, outside business contacts, and customers.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of Company management, staff, and outside business contacts.

Demonstrated computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.


REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, OR KNOWLEDGE

Valid Driver’s License.

Demonstrated ability to use precise measuring instruments to measure to inches (1/1000 inches)
WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical manufacturing and processing areas

Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.

Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Visual acuity required for close work, color differentiation, depth perception, and to adjust focus.
SAFETY HAZARDS OF THE JOB

Typical environment is a production baking plant with possible exposure to noise, vibration, flammables, electrical shock, hazardous materials, high humidity, high heats, flour dust, ingredient dust.

Regularly requires appropriate manufacturing environment personal protective equipment.
