Position Criteria:

Certified Coaching Endorsement or AuthorizationDemonstrate aptitude for performing tasks listedMust exhibit ethical practices, and be a role model to studentsSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Performance Criteria:

Formulate objectives for the sport season as it would pertain to player personnel and assistant coaching responsibilitiesKeep abreast of new ideas and techniques by attending clinics and workshops, reading in the field and encouraging assistant coaches to do the sameBe knowledgeable of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport and changes which occurInventory, selection, care and maintenance of equipmentAssist athletic director with proper registration of all athletes at beginning of the seasonCollect necessary feesAssist athletic director in compiling eligibility lists and other reportsArrange for systematic issuance of school equipmentMake sure all athletes have physicalsAssume supervisory control over all phases of teams in the programOrganize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the idea of developing the athlete’s greatest potentialApply discipline in a firm and positive mannerSee that facility regulations are understood and enforcedConduct oneself and teams in an ethical manner during practice and in contestsReport outcomes of contests to the mediaAdhere to the rules and regulations of the district regarding school bus transportationDirectly supervise, or designate a supervisor, of all dressing rooms and lock up facilities at the close of each practice or contestAccompany the varsity team to all interscholastic away activities and the first in attendance at home eventsDesignate one or more assistant coaches to be responsible for the junior varsity teamsRecommend those student athletes who have fulfilled requirements for athletic letters, certificates or special awardsRecommend additions and/or improvements for the care and maintenance of facilitiesWork cooperatively with athletic director in recommendations for upcoming contest schedulesMaintain records of team and individual accomplishments and submit a copy to the athletic director
