JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the effective administration of this athletic program and team including the recruitment of student athletes, team scheduling and programming, public relations, academic support, and the retention of student athletes. Supervises assistant and student coaches.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):

Provide leadership and direction for the Men’s Volleyball Program. Lead all required meetings, events, workshops, competitions, practices, schedules, and assure proper supervision is provided at all times. Organize and administer the recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with University and NAIA policies and procedures. Assure the retention of students is a goal and a priority. Recruit, retain, and graduate student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program and vibrancy of campus life. Provide oversight of student-athletes academic progress toward degree completion. Ensure program is led by encouraging a high level of competitive success. Make annual budget proposals for the betterment of the program and University and manage assigned budgets to assure that they remain within approved funding levels. Review and process all contracts, fund requests, program requests, and paperwork applying appropriate University policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provide leadership and programming which promote campus involvement and community service. Annually propose an effective and competitive schedule for approval. Fund and friend raising for the advancement of the programs. Actively promote the programs through public relations and fundraising. Ensure adherence to the NAIA rules and regulations including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values. Collaboration with and support of other coaches and personnel within the athletic department. Provide consistent programs and goals across all OU athletic teams. Fulfill commitments to all additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics which may include game day management, administrative and/or teaching responsibilities. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity): Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity)Significant and successful coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level with head coaching experience.
