Mathematics Grades (9-12):
We are looking for a high energy, patient, innovative, creative and culturally sensitive instructor in the Mathematics content area. The candidate we seek will possess the Alaska State Highly Qualified certification. Alaska teaching experience is preferred.

The Math Instructor's primary responsibilities may vary between basic Algebra I & II and Statistics classes to advanced mathematics courses. Instructor's focus will be upon academic success in the content area, concentration on skills for high stakes assessments and preparation for college level SAT and ACT assessments. Teamwork / team player mentality will be required as a school-wide goal is collaboration within the content area's Professional Learning Community. Its ongoing task is to continue the development of a comprehensive, relevant and practical application mathematics curriculum conducive to the success of our clientele. Our ideal candidate will possess experience in the differentiation and individualization of direct instruction required to address both ends of the achievement spectrum.
Our MEHS experiences indicate that project-based learning and a hands-on, interactive and relevant curriculum are most successful with our students.

Mt. Edgecumbe High School is a public boarding school with 400 students from over 100 communities throughout Alaska. Most come from communities with high schools enrolling fewer than 50 students; approximately 80 % are Alaska Native.
