Medical Assistant

Job Description:
Responsible for care delivered under the direct supervision of the Provider/Registered Nurse. Records patient care given and reports to appropriate person with changes in patient’s condition; consults with RN/Provider when uncertain about care delivery; provides basic health instructions and reinforces teaching by other health team members.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred prior to 12/1/06, post 12/1/06 required (as a result of clinic/business acquisition(s), this requirement may be waived for existing staff in Bellin Medical Group primary care and specialty care clinics); OR graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program but has not been successful in passing boards (must obtain LPN license within three months).
Medical Assistant certification preferred; Post 01/01/16, American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification required within three months of hire (clinic/business acquisitions have up to six months to obtain AAMA certification). If not successful in passing AAMA exam first attempt, will allow additional testing period(s) to obtain (not to exceed an additional three months).
Or, Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) status obtained and maintained throughout employment. Post 01/01/16, ABR-OE option not available.
Previous clinic experience preferred.
