Job Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina (USC) Arnold School of Public Health (ASPH; The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining an independent, extramurally funded program of research in the areas of aphasia and longitudinal studies of aging. We seek a candidate who will also collaborate with other investigators in COMD who have expertise in aphasia, dementia, and hearing. The faculty member will also be responsible for teaching a distance education course in stuttering and other clinical courses in speech-language pathology within the department. Finally, they will contribute service to the department, university, and their field.The successful candidate must hold a in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related discipline Psychology or Human Development) and have completed at least twenty-four months of postdoctoral research experience by the beginning date of employment. Research areas of interest should include but are not limited to aphasia, gerontology, stuttering, and longitudinal research design.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders hosts an active and collaborative research faculty, with existing strengths in child language and literacy, aphasia, neurodevelopmental disorders, motor speech disorders, and neurodegenerative disease. Our faculty have strong ties with community entities including local public and private schools, Prisma Health, the local VA hospital, as well as with research groups across the university, including:

·Research Consortium on Children and Families (USC Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Center of Excellence
CAA-accredited speech-language pathology masters degree program (in two modalities, on-campus and via distance-learning) as well as a PhD program. We offer a low teaching load to support faculty in developing and maintaining their research programs.
