Overview:

The Client is seeking a Technical Writer to document efforts aimed at bridging the digital divide in Phoenix. Since May 2020, the client has collaborated with multiple agencies to establish a digital canopy providing internet access to K-12 students at no cost to families. This initiative has been piloted in two elementary school districts as a proof-of-concept, with plans for expansion to an additional two districts. The Technical Writer will be tasked with reviewing existing documentation, conducting interviews with key stakeholders from the City, high school district, elementary schools, and Phoenix College, and drafting a primer outlining the discovery process and implementation efforts of the project. This primer will serve as a guide for replicating the solution in other communities.

Professional Competencies:

• Working knowledge of IT terms related to creating a school-based internet access system for students and teachers.
• Ability to gather information from interviews with team members and project notes, synthesizing it into an informative and concise summary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong writing skills with a focus on clarity and conciseness.
• Experience in research methodologies.
• Ability to conduct interviews, either in-person or virtually, to gather data.
• Technical knowledge of systems related to creating an internet access system for educational institutions.
