Job Summary
The Research Machinist/Welder plans and performs a broad range of machining and bench operations, as well as hand welding to fabricate a variety of short run special or experimental parts, jigs, and fixtures per customer requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
• High School/Equivalent
• Five years’ experience in machine tool operations and technical welding
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
• Two-year relevant technical degree in welding or completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of experience, training and /or education• Experience in a research and development facilityMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to weld a wide assortment of materials using the appropriate techniques for each
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, diagrams, and schematics
• Knowledge of standard machine shop equipment including lathes, milling machines and grinders
• Ability to produce results under pressure situations
• Requires a demonstrated commitment to quality and customer service
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to work with a diverse population
Shift
Business Hours: Monday - Friday
Travel
Local travel between campus locations onlyDriving
Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use
Starting Salary/Rate
Expected hiring range: $25.00- $27.75
