Responsibilities

Aircraft Mechanic Level 2 (ACM-II) workers repair and troubleshoot malfunctions on F-18 aircraft and components, perform general mechanical maintenance, and operational checks of the assigned systems. They enter data in the maintenance records describing the work performed and verifies they performed the work satisfactorily. They can service engines and airframe components making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. They specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and/or specializes in F-18 repairs. Aircraft Mechanic level 2 will also have to assist in or complete: a) Apply aircraft power; b) Aircraft tow operations; c) Aircraft cabin pressure/environmental checks; d) Flight control checks and rigging; e) Avionics checks; f) Electrical checks; g) Environmental checks; h) Hydraulic checks; i) Aircraft jacking; j) Aircraft shoring/cribbing; k) Aircraft refuel/defuel; l) Aircraft On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) servicing; m) Aircraft systems lock-out/tag-out; n) Aircraft systems checkout; o) Aircraft preservation; p) Operation of all powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment (AGE); q) Operation of special purpose vehicles such as tugs, forklifts, cranes, and manlifts; r) Communicate with production elements; and s) Support Prime contractor Depot Maintenance Team indirect activities such as inventory management, shop organization, shop cleanup, and in-house training. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Education: Degree required. One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.High School Diploma or EquivalentA&P Desired (not required) Experience: Pertinent Military Training in F-18 Structural, Electrical, Avionics, or Powerplants areasMechanics must meet all ACM-2 requirements and have technical knowledge and repair capability of aircraft structural/mechanical repair with a minimum of two (2) years of experience on F-18 variant aircraft.Government supply systems to include FedLog, Integrated Logistics System SupplyFamiliarity with Integrated Maintenance Data System (desired) Other Requirements: Secret security Clearance desired (not required, but must be able to obtain). Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system Skills & Technology Used Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving: Possesses both analytical and interpersonal skills.Good problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills/techniques.
