Summary: The Director of Housing Services will oversee the management of Action Inc.'s emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, affordable housing, and outreach activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and strategic leadership to the Housing Services team with a focus on strong performance management, retention, engagement, and professional development.
  • Manage and oversee the operation of the emergency shelter, Housing First program, Quest program, and affordable housing units.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality, person-centered services that meet the needs of clients and comply with all local, state, federal, and funder regulations.
  • Advise on, and at times directly manage, challenging client situations in partnership with other Housing Services staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the Accounting and Finance Department for timely submission of all required invoicing including directly submitting any client-related billing.
  • Monitor fund balances of housing programs to ensure that expenses are within budgeted limits and participate in the annual budgeting process.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Planning department to develop strategies to meet current funding obligations, collaborating to proactively identify and apply for relevant grant opportunities. Regularly review status and progress of current grants, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for any housing-related contract compliance and renewals.
  • Complete data entry and required reporting, including case notes, monthly data reports, HIC, PIT, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Facilities department staff to ensure facility-related issues are addressed and resident needs are met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including funders and government agencies. Represent Action Inc. with external partners and constituency groups.
  • Convene the Housing Services Client Advisory Board to provide a regular opportunity for client feedback, community building, and resource sharing.
  • Implement recruitment, training, support, and retention strategies in consultation with Human Resources to ensure appropriate staffing across programs.
  • Respond to after-hours emergency calls, providing guidance and intervening as necessary.
  • Attend and participate in departmental, organization-wide, and other meetings.
  • Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work or related field required.
  • LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC required or license eligible.
  • Minimum of five years in a non-profit organization.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a faced-paced environment.
  • Possess a high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Experience with client database systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
