GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Developmental Services, the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) is responsible for the overall integration of the clinical aspects of the Developmental Services Division in a manner to meet the prescribed statues and regulations; for accomplishing habilitation objectives and for insuring that active treatment is being applied effectively as defined by the needs of the residents. A minimum of 20% of worktime is spent in direct resident contact.

The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served on his/her unit—adolescent through geriatric and functioning levels of residents within the Developmental Services Division. The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the resident's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each resident's requirements relative to their specific needs; to provide the active treatment needed as developed by the interdisciplinary Team and outlined in the Individual Program Plan (IPP); and to provide the care needed as described in Developmental Services Division’s policies and procedures.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related field required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five (5) years experience working directly with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals required.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass background screening- including criminal and professional employment checks.

Must pass post-job offer pre-placement physical exam; and initial and subsequent annual TB screenings.

CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.

Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents, visitors, and external agencies.

Valid PA driver's license is preferred.

Knowledge of counseling skills and behavioral intervention techniques required.
