The ECG Technician performs diagnostic testing including, but not limited to, electrocardiograms, cardiac stress testing, and 24 hour Holter monitoring for patients of all ages. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. INTEGRIS Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.ResponsibilitiesThe ECG Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Maintains all patient files and departmental log sheets in proper order * Participates in departmental/institutional Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) * Performs diagnostic testing and procedures * Logs, records, transcribes, charts, distributes, and/or posts test results after physician review and interpretation * Processes reports and associated charges via information systems according to policies and procedures * Assists ECG management service clients in obtaining routine and stat interpretations * Performs regular equipment evaluations and maintenance, including defibrillator checks and emergency cart checks according to established policies The ECG Technician reports to the Director. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Frequent exposure to possibility of electrical shock by plugging/unplugging equipment in a wide range of situations and locations. Frequent exposure to infectious patients with a variety of diseases inclusive of: HIV, Hepatitis, Herpes, Tuberculosis, CMV, Upper Respiratory Infections, Blood-Borne Pathogens and other infectious materials as defined by OSHA. Occasional exposure to blood and body fluids. Occasionally exposed to sight of blood, smell of burnt flesh, patient incontinence, patients on respirators, surgical patients. Exposed to constant interruptions in performance of office duties. Daily exposed to corrosive disinfectants when cleansing equipment for entry and exit of surgery or isolation areas. Occasionally required to work on very sick and uncooperative neonates and children. Required to work a variety of shifts. Required to wear universal safety protective clothing when required.
