Certified Cytotechnologist

University Health is currently seeking a Certified Cytotechnologist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company with a reputation for exceptional service and patient care. POSITIONSUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately processes all cytological specimens and performs the final microscopic diagnosis for gynecologic cell samples that are within normal limits and performs the preliminary microscopic diagnosis for abnormal gynecologicand all non-gynecologic cell samples. Periodically supervises work of trainees and other supportive technical/clericalpersonnel employed in the laboratory. Rapidly and accurately performs assigned duties. Meets work deadlines ofdepartment and maintains the highest possible quality standards and up-to-date cytological procedures. Accountablefor the final diagnosis of all negative gynecologic cases and the preliminary diagnosis of abnormal gynecological andall non-gynecologic cases. Accountable for proper identification and correction of unexpected as well as frequentlyoccurring problems and for accurately identifying specimens with correct patient. EDUCATIONBachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory,chemical, physical, or biological science or have graduated from a school of cytotechnology accredited by theCommittee on Allied Health Education and accreditation or other organization approved by HHS; or be certified incytotechnology by a certifying agency approved by HHS (must maintain certification status in compliance withspecifications for continuing education required by the certification agency.) LICENSURE/CERTIFICAITON Cytotechn accrual ology Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) is required. Must maintain certification status in compliance with specifications for continuing education required by the certification agency.
