Spencer Ogden is currently collaborating with an industry leading client in need of a Commissioning Lead. In this role, a contractor will provide oversight and support for commissioning activities focusing on electrical and instrumentation aspects of the CHP Project. The ideal has a strong background in Commissioning power and/or utility stations.

Start Date: May 2024

Location: Ohio

Estimated Duration: 9 months

Must be open to working night shifts, as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Support Construction Site Manager with site activities.
  • Mobilize and manage internal and external teams for electrical and instrumentation commissioning.
  • Ensure safe and efficient commissioning activities in line with Project management system.
  • Participate in site safety oversight, meetings, and walk-downs.
  • Assist in claim management, variation reporting, and contract entitlements.
  • Enforce project standards and minimize risks.
  • Maintain completeness and accuracy of project documents.
  • Collaborate with Contractors on electrical and instrumentation works.
  • Manage invoicing and monitor project receivables.
  • Attend regular status meetings and communicate project information effectively.
  • Resolve issues promptly or escalate as necessary.
  • Monitor and inspect Contractors electrical and I&C commissioning activities for compliance, quality, and safety.
  • Review and approve Contractors commissioning work methods and schedules.
  • Conduct construction to commissioning walk-downs and punch-list completion.
  • Review and approve electrical and I&C works submitted by the Contractor.
  • Provide instructions for adherence to project requirements.
  • Oversee Technical Field Advisors and commissioning procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate deficiencies during commissioning, developing solutions as needed.
  • Manage commissioning interfaces with Engineering, Construction, Testing, Package Managers, and Operations.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated successful performance as Owners Rep or part of EPC Team on similar projects.
  • At least 3 years of management experience on power and/or utility stations.
  • Minimum 8 years of site experience in power and/or utility stations.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in electrical raceway, cabling, equipment, and materials installation.
  • Advanced knowledge in installation related to Major Equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge in all voltages of electrical cable and raceway installations.
  • Advanced knowledge in instrumentation cables and equipment installation.
  • Advanced knowledge in earthing and grounding of plant equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in Construction Safety practices and processes.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Successful background check.
