PositionSummary Pharmacists are responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of pharmaceuticals and ensure appropriateness of prescribed therapy for all patient populations including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Pharmacists must also communicate effectively with the department, other healthcare professionals and patients. Primary Position Responsibilities Ensures accurate and proficient distribution of medications in accordance with department policies in addition to state and federal regulations. Ensures accurate and proficient preparation of parenteral medications in accordance with department policies in addition to state and federal regulations. Demonstrates clinical proficiency in both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy practice. Provides administrative support for pharmacy management. Provides coverage for both the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy Work Contact Group (Internal/External) HMC employees, providers, students, patients and families, visitors, vendors. Reporting Relationships Reports to (position): Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services and Director of Pharmaceutical Services. Supervises (position(s): Technicians, new staff, students. Qualifications Minimum Education: Required: Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy Preferred: Master of Sciences in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: 5 years hospital pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience if has a Bachelors or Masters in Pharmacy. Prior work experience not required for Doctor of Pharmacy. Preferred: 2 years of recent retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy experience orpost-graduate residency training. License, Registry or Certification: Required: New Jersey Pharmacist License Preferred: Specialty pharmacy certification (e.g. BCPS, CGP) Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: Pharmacy skills serving patients of diverse age and disease states; working knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (e.g. PYXIS or Omnicell) or retail pharmacy systems; Competence in required computer programs (clinical system, ADC, parenteral documentation).
