DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:The Lab/X-ray technician is a member of the interdisciplinary medical team of the Family Health Center of Southern Oklahoma. They may serve as a liaison between the front desk staff, the laboratory and X-ray staff along with the nurses in the provision of care. This person will be responsible for the proper care, maintenance, and up keep of our lab/x-ray department at a satellite clinic.RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs venipuncture on adults and pediatrics.Performs capillary (finger, toe, heel) blood collection on adults and pediatrics.Processes specimens according to test specifications.Records workload and test results according to establish laboratory protocol.Processes Pap smear results.Performs waived and approved testing using appropriate equipment and materials.Performs and appropriately documents when quality control procedures, instrument checks and maintenance reports.Consults with supervisor(s) when controls are out of range, test results are abnormal, or when difficulties are encountered in testing procedure.Maintains good working relationships with other employees, patients, and third-party vendors.Maintains complete patient confidentiality at all times. Records required results to the Oklahoma State Health Department.Maintains CLA certification and follow regulations set forth by CLA, CDC, and the Oklahoma State Health Department.Takes corrective action with proper documentation when controls are out of range or test results are abnormal.Reports critical laboratory values to the provider immediately.Keeps laboratory and draw areas sanitized and sharps safes. Responsible for assisting in autoclaving and checking quality assurance of autoclaving.Follow Medicare guidelines and utilize Advance Beneficiary Notices.Follow Medicaid/Sooner-Care guidelines.Maintain awareness on cost of test versus reimbursement of test in regards to patient resources and medical necessity.Assist nursing with vital signs, EKGs, Bio-Te's, X-Rays and all other appropriately delegated tasks by nursing.Assist medical providers with treatment of patients, if neededMaintain a current BLS certificationAttend regularly scheduled monthly staff and clinic wide meetings, as well as, unexpected meetings.Cleaning X-ray area, and turn off equipment at night.Running proper tests to ensure equipment is running efficiently and effectively.Assists medical providers with x-ray and bone density examinationsPerforming x-rays and bone density scansParticipate in PECS program in regards to assisting with the Diabetic Collaboration.Provide assistance with administrative duties such as returning phone calls, assisting patients, charting activities, and/or referralsDemonstrate a spirit of teamwork and commitment to quality patient care.Demonstrates a respect to all other employees and patients.Follow appropriate chain-of-commandRequired to participate in daily medical team meetings.Participates in designated activities and projects for PCMH as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.Be an active member of a care team.All other duties as assigned.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:High School Graduate or GEDAppropriately trained for nature of positionOn-the-job training, previous experience preferred.Personal maturity, cooperation, ability to communicate clearly.
