Sigma Healthcare Team is currently looking for an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to work onsite for our contracted facility.

EMR Used: Cerner
Shift Information: Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for all aspects of laboratory services on a daily basis, including processing test
  • performance and reporting of test results.
  • Performs phlebotomy on outpatients or inpatients (as needed)
  • Maintain all related policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for specimen, processing test performance and reporting of test results.
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document activity including calibrations, maintenance performed and related corrective action plans, as needed.
  • Reviews charges daily for correct coding for ICD's.
Organizational Functions:
  • Be compliant with organizational policies and procedures and related departmental procedures.
  • Follow all HIPAA regulations as outlined in the HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Excellent customer service skills for both inter and intra department.
  • Provide strong alliance and act as a liaison with medical staff (including physicians) and ancillary departments of CIMC.
  • Maintain clean safe working environment.
  • Assist the accounting department by approving all departmental bills for accounts payable and keep comprehensive records.
  • Assist to facilitate physician meetings and provide ongoing communication with physicians as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Performance Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Proper specimen collection including patient preparation if applicable, labeling, and handling, preservation, processing, expiration, transportation, and storage of specimens.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform each test method and proper instrument use.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration procedures related to each test performed.
  • Working knowledge of reagent stability and storage.
  • Adhering to the quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory.
  • Awareness of the factors that influence test results.
  • Assess and verify validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control sample test values prior to reporting patient test results.
  • Infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies by effectively role modeling appropriate behavior.
  • React calmly and competently in emergency situations.
  • Common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
  • Identifying problems, researching, and recommending resolutions.
  • Computer operation and EMR.
Position Qualifications:
  • B.S. in appropriate field.
  • VT State Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license required.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of physiology, biochemistry, bacteriology, hematology, immunology and serology preferred.
  • Ability to work with others, at all levels within the organization, and collaborate effectively.
  • Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a team player to all departments, confidential of sensitive data, respectful of all other staff members, considerate of other people's time, and accountable for work output.
