Department: Inpatient Float Pool

Position Summary:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients consistent with clinical specialty, serving as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care
  • Ensure adherence to hospital and department policies and procedures
  • Minimum four shifts per schedule required, including two weekend shifts and one summer and one winter holiday
  • Patient care assignments may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe direct care to assigned patients
  • Work within hospital policies, nursing division, and departmental policies while implementing and documenting individualized care plans
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
  • Participate in orientation, preceptor training, and evaluation duties of new personnel
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards
  • Continually participate in educational programs to enhance professional growth and development
  • Encourage patient participation in their own care
  • Adhere to core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable

Qualifications:

  • Program graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Minimum 1 year directly related experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification required
  • RN certification in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM required

Credentials:

  • Nationally certified in area of specialty, PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC certification preferred but not required

Physical Conditions:

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people

Working Conditions:

  • May come into contact with hazardous materials, personal protective equipment required
