Seafood Merchandiser - Southern CA (based out of Anaheim, CA)

Job Summary: The Seafood Merchandiser plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful operation of the Fresh Seafood Departments. This position involves managing inventory, optimizing product displays, maintaining food safety standards, and collaborating with operations and buyers.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor stock levels.
  • Review and address daily Stock list Reports.
  • Verify counts are completed.

Product Display:

  • Create appealing seafood displays to attract customers.
  • Arrange products in an organized and visually appealing manner.
  • Ensure proper signage and pricing information.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the merchandising team to align strategies within the West Coast Region and amongst all regions.
  • Communicate effectively with buyers regarding product selection, quantities, delivery times, and product quality.

Sales Analysis:

  • Analyze sales data to identify opportunities to limit Damages, Interims and Pricing Adjustments.
  • Implement schematics for promotional/sales items to boost sales.

Training:

  • Train seafood managers in merchandising and sales techniques.
  • Train Seafood and Receiving team on proper receiving procedures.

Reporting:

  • Maintain constant communications with the buying team and direct supervisor.
  • Provide daily visit reports.

Qualifications:

  • Proven background in merchandising.
  • Attention to detail and ability to adapt on the fly.
  • Self-Starter
  • Strong communication skills. Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Knowledge of seafood products and industry trends.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift/Carry Abilities (measured for maximum or average load)
  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Carry strength (50 or less) 50 lbs
  • Frequent lift/carry (> 12x/hour) 50 lbs
  • Constant lift/carry (> 30x/hr) 20 lbs
  • Physical Aptitudes (rated based on level of skill involved)
  • Agility/dynamic balance 80-100%
  • Finger dexterity 80-100%
  • Manual dexterity 80 100%
  • Posture Tolerance (rated based on frequency or time involved)
  • Stand/walk constantly.
  • Reach above shoulder level occasionally.
  • Twist/turn head constantly.
  • Bend over/stoop occasionally.
  • Climb steps/ladder occasionally.
  • Kneel/squat occasionally.

Work Environment:

  1. Requires working consistently in frequent exposure to cold temperatures (38 to 40 degrees).
  2. Equipment in motion (forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scooters)
