**Description**

The Kitchen Aide will assist in food preparation, serving and clean up for daily meals for shelter guests. This includes three meals a day as well as food storage, food inventory and meal reporting for statistics and billing under the supervision of the kitchen supervisor.

**DUTIES**

* Assist with food storage, food preparation, cooking and serving daily meals for shelter clients

* Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily, for service and inspections

* Coordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteers

* Coordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food supplies

* Have or be able to immediately acquire Serve Safe Certification for Food Handlers Permit

* Any other duties relating to your job as requested by the Supervisors and/or Officers

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

* Experience in nutritional needs for homeless populations.

* Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties.

* Ability to prioritize work and multi-task simultaneous projects.

* Be cordial, friendly and professional in carrying out job responsibilities.

* Possess maturity and confidentially.

* Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.

* Experience working with vulnerable populations

* Interact professionally in all contact with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff.

* Must be at least 21 years old.

* Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and

* mission.
