JOIN OUR TEAMCompetitive salary starting at $35.30 per hour(actual rate is dependent on past experience)Shift: Monday - Friday 7:35 am to 2:35 pmMAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:Establish, review, revise and recommend policy and procedures for a comprehensive school health program, including emergency and first aid procedures, medication administration protocol, safety measures, student and staff health services, health educationCollect and interpret data of each student including growth, developmental and health historyPerform vision, hearing, height/weight, emotional, nutritional and immunization status and physical assessments Make nursing diagnosis for each student based on health and educational statusDetermine the impact of health needs on educational programmingIdentify priority of care and develop nursing care plans as neededIdentify interdisciplinary approach to care including, staffing, meetings with classroom teacher and parent, Committee on Special Education meetings as needed, informal staff consultationsCoordinate and implement consultations with developmental specialist and home-school doctorIdentify the relationship between health status and the student's ability to learnIntervene to implement nursing actions that promote, maintain or restore health, or prevent illnessContact parents with referrals based on, annual physical assessments, vision and hearing screening, acute health problems and injuriesEducate families and students on their current health status and the impact on learning, roles of health care and the education process Structure each student encounter to provide a learning opportunity about health, self care to assist in the development of decision-making skills to attain optimal wellnessInform school personnel about adaptation of program, intervention or special environment required by students to meet their individual needsProvide health counseling and refers to appropriate professionals when indicatedAdminister prescribed medication to all students as needed and provides a written list of which students receive medication and time of administrationAdminister first aid and tends to acutely ill students and facultyEducate and counsel school personnel, students and families in health related mattersProvide in-service programs for school personnel on emergency care procedures, medications monitoring, abuse and neglect reporting Provide and interpret special health program information with relevance to the classroom settingMaintain health records on each studentParticipate in Individualized Education Plan and Behavior Implementation Plan conferences as neededReport child abuse/neglect to appropriate as a mandated reporter to Albany registry, contacts family members when appropriateOther duties as assignedBENEFITS OF JOINING THE FALK FAMILY:Paid school breaksSick TimeHealth, dental, and vision Insurance, with plan optionsEmployer-paid life insuranceHealth savings account with agency contributions quarterlySupplemental insurance: short-term disability, long-term disabilityEmployee referral program403b with 4% contributionWork with an outstanding, supportive teamAnnual wage increases, with average increases ranging from 2-9%Strong administrative supportA school culture centered on kindnessDid we say an outstanding, supportive team?ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:Valid New York State Registered Nursing LicenseKnowledge of school health programs such as vision, hearing screening, immunization requirementsExperience with students that have emotional and learning disabilities preferredAbility to develop and maintain positive working relationshipsRegular and dependable level of attendance Valid driver license preferredEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
