Description

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have 5+ years of experience in the construction trade to join our team. You will work alongside our project foreman and carpenters to build out commercial projects and assemble pre-engineered steel buildings throughout Northern IL.

A lead carpenter is an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. You will be responsible for laying out the project and working with our carpenters and carpenter apprentices to complete these projects. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of the construction trades, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to work well with others while working with little supervision, and following all health and safety standards is essential.

The goal is to contribute to a long-lasting working relationship in a team-oriented environment while maintaining the quality and integrity of the project by developing a skill set allowing you to move up within our company.

Requirements

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Maintain a clean jobsite (clean up construction debris and sweep floors)

•Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements

•Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed

•Layout of framing, cabinets, and other aspect of any project

•Install steel and wood stud framing

•Layout and installation of acoustical ceiling track and tile

•Installation of windows and doors

•Installation of general millwork (interior doors, casing, and base)

•Install cabinetry and cabinet trim

•Assembly of pre-engineered steel buildings

•Safely operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers

•Direct and oversee work of carpenters and carpenter apprentices

•Oversee the safety of the project and work conditions

•Lead by example with positive attitude, proper PPE, and safe work practices

•Respect client's property and belongings

Requirements

•Regular attendance of 8-10 hour shifts Monday-Friday

•Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain reliable transportation

•Must possess a working mobile phone

•High school diploma or GED preferred but not required

•OSHA 10-hour card preferred

•Knowledge and understanding of the English language

•Maintain good physical condition and endurance

•Willingness to work on ladders and lifts

•Able to work required overtime, or alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the project

•Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade

•Knowledge and understanding of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade

•Ability to read, interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, and specifications

•Proficient with the use of tools (powered saws, lasers, tape measures, etc.)

•Ability to identify safety hazards and willingness to always follow safety guidelines

•Ability to work with little to no supervision and lead other teammates

•Able to work as a team and ask questions if you do not understand the task
