Job Summary

The Front-end Web Developer plays a key part in the organization’s in-house creative team by leading code development across various web platforms that support AWF’s programmatic, marketing, and fundraising teams. Depending on the project, the scope of the role will range from building new websites from the ground up on a chosen platform, to updating current code bases with new features and components. The role works alongside a team of designers and content creators to build engaging web experiences that effectively communicates the organization’s mission, while also driving meaningful conversions and meeting goal metrics.

Candidates will be expected to work in-person at our Washington, DC office 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, test and deploy new pages and components for the organization’s main website based on UI mockups, utilizing platform tools in conjunction with building lean and efficient custom code.
  • Build microsites with ranging complexity for various teams across the organization.
  • Maintain code repositories for all websites by updating code with the latest module releases and removing unused code.
  • Assist with coding new email templates for various departments.
  • Using the department’s project management system, maintain the development schedule for the organization’s website.
  • Conduct QA/QC review on new web pages, emails and site enhancements built by outside web development vendors.
  • Assist in facilitating reporting and analytics for AWF.org sites by implementing tracking across web platforms.
  • Assist with DNS and server management for various microsites.
Requirements and skills
  • Computer Science Degree or 3+ years of web development experience.
  • Proven knowledge and strong understanding of client-side web development technologies, including JavaScript, React, Angular, jQuery, etc.
  • Proven work experience with modern build processes, utilizing Webpack, SASS, Babel, Bootstrap, etc.
  • Knowledge of Drupal and/or WordPress theming structure, or similar platform experience.
  • Knowledge of GIT and deployment workflows.
