Many UHP physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents, fellows, and medical students. The UMKC SOM accepts students directly out of high school for a six-year combined baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine program. The UMKC SOM Graduate Medical Education program supports over 30 residencies and fellowships.

UH is an academic medical center, serving as the primary teaching institution for the UMKC Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Pharmacy. Job Description

University Health Lakewood Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our medical staff in providing psychiatric coverage of our 16-bed geriatric psychiatric acute care unit.

This position will work as leader of a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatry residents, medical students, psychologists, medical social workers, dieticians, nurses and recreation therapists. Other duties will include: helping to cover our inpatient mental health units during physician absences, consultation liaison services to medical center and teaching of psychiatry residents and medical students. Participation in hospital-based committees and providing lectures to other medical specialties is encouraged.

The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school, completing a residency in psychiatry (experience in geriatric psychiatry preferred, but not required)
