Safety Lead Specialist:

Responsible for managing the current safety procedures, analyzing processes to find any gaps or areas that need improvement, and developing new safety systems to reduce or eliminate safety hazards. Responsible to set up a regular inspection schedule of our buildings and equipment and conduct safety training sessions for new and current employees so as to ensure PMO employees are safe and our facilities comply with all relevant governmental regulations. The ideal candidate would have at least three years of professional safety experience and is familiar with OSHA and other regulatory guidelines. Responsible to lead the ISO 14001 certification program.

Responsibilities:

Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)

Responsible to coordinate ISO 14001 program

Responsible to maintain SDS program

Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures

Initiate and organize Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training of employees and executives

Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective

equipment)

Oversee disposal of hazardous substances.

Oversee workers compensation self-insurance system such as management of claims and coordination of treatment

Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and coordinate workers compensation claims

Prepare reports such as SARA, OSHA 300 log, TRIR on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

Skills:

In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., OSHA/EPA) and procedures

Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices

Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety

Proficient in MS Office and working knowledge of safety management information systems is a preferred

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics

BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field or certificate in occupational health and safety, preferred
