Essential (primary)

Assists the Sports Facility/Program Manager with facility management, strategic planning, staff management, payroll, and risk management enforcement, budget recommendations, promotions, public relations, contract management, volunteer training and supervision, community partner organization and evaluation.

Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating Aquatics and Frank Southern Ice Arena programs. Schedules sports facilities (Bryan Park Pool/Mills Pool and Frank Southern Ice Arena for rentals and leagues. Conducts and analyzes evaluations, registration information, purchasing, and the creation of program descriptions.

Develops positive relationships with participants, families, and stakeholders as it relates to sports facilities including Bryan Park Pool/Mills Pool and Frank Southern Ice Arena. Develops and oversees partnerships with various groups related to sport.

Works March-September on daily tasks with Aquatics facilities.

October - February are spent at the Frank Southern Ice Arena assisting with various programs ranging from skating school to youth hockey.

Assists in handling situations related to participant behavior and exhibits a professional customer service when following behavior engagement protocols.

Assists in hiring and training part-time employees/interns as it relates to various programs. Evaluates seasonal employees and interns at the direction of the Sports Facility/Program Manager.

Purchases equipment and supplies needed for programs and/or events within budgetary guidelines and submits purchase requisitions and payroll for approval relating to programs and/or events.

Routinely attends meetings of groups/agencies as a Parks & Recreation representative, reports findings and makes recommendations to staff.

Maintains continuing education and training through professional staff development when possible.

Lifeguard Instructor certification, Water Safety certification, and CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or AFO (Aquatics Facility Operator) must be acquired as quickly as possible.

Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED Instructor certification must be acquired within three months of employment.
Non-Essential (secondary)
Travels to state, regional and national meetings, and other professional training programs. Performs related duties as assigned by the Sports Facility/Program Manager.Minimum knowledge equivalent to a bachelors degree in Sports Marketing/Management, Sports Management or related field.

Knowledge of the full range of theories and principles accepted in the field of recreation.

Ability to prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.

Ability to direct, train, coordinate and evaluate the work of others including part-time staff, volunteers, and interns.

Ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor certification, Water Safety certifications, CPO (Certified Pool Operator) and Red Cross/First Aid and CPR instructor certification.

Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
Incumbent performs duties, which are broad in scope and impact and require the consideration
of complex variables and their potential interrelationships in the assessment, design, and
implementation of short and long-range goals and objectives of the Sports Division.

Position requires a flexible work schedule including weekends and evening hours and on-call.

A considerable amount of physical effort and seasonally long hours may be required to
accomplish assigned job duties.

Incumbent maintains frequent contact with the Sports Division staff, community partners and
volunteers, and members of various boards and commissions to ensure delivery of consistent
department policy and high-quality program service.
