Responsibilities

Are you ready to challenge the expected to deliver the extraordinary?

  • Proficient in all aspects of an Echo Lab, including all tests (i.e. 2D Echo/Doppler/Color Flow, Stress Echo, Contrast study, Dyssynchrony study)
  • Perform two-dimensional echocardiography, M-mode echocardiography, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler (including nonimaging probe), Color flow imaging and tissue Doppler, and echocardiographic quantitation according to the Echo Lab protocol. Needs to be proficient in all the techniques of digital echocardiography including digital recording, annotation, measurements, saving/copying/reviewing/deleting study.
  • Complete worksheet with study findings.
  • Provide professional quality technical care for the Clinic patients, according to established guidelines and practices.
  • Enter all necessary data into EMR.
  • Be familiar with saving/retrieving images on DVR.
  • Use PAC system to review, store and copy echocardiographic studies, to enter all necessary data for the final echo report, to print final report.
  • Take BP, place EKG leads and take EKG. Recognize major abnormalities and report to physician/NP.
  • Recognize and report to cardiologist significant abnormal findings.
  • Maintain Echo equipment in operative condition including regular cleaning, checking for malfunction and calling support when issues arise.

Qualifications

The Experiences You Bring:

  • High school graduate.
  • Ultrasound technician training through previous on-the-job training or from accredited 12-year ultrasound program.
  • Basic EKG interpretation.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in CP.
  • 1-3 years of previous Echo Lab experience.
  • Knowledge of elementary electrocardiography
  • Understanding of cardiac anatomy as recorded by M-mode, 2D echocardiography with all the standard views.
  • Knowledge of cardiac hemodynamic as demonstrated by pulsed Doppler, continuous wave Doppler and Color flow imaging.
  • Familiarity with the basic procedures and equipment used in exercise electrocardiography so that the equipment can be used for exercise echocardiography.
  • Understanding of basic principles of digital echocardiography and quantitation, along with two-dimensional measurement techniques; rapid image recording (within one minute) after exercise echocardiography is vital.
  • Familiarity with contrast study procedures.
