The Specialist works as a member of the Starfish team supporting children and families to achieve the outcomes as outlined in the Blueprint for Brighter futures.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Health Nutrition or NutritionMinimum of 3 years previous experience supporting early childhood education programsRegistered Dietitian preferredDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop material regarding nutrition for children, parents and staffProvide training and technical assistance to staff as needed, including site visitsCollaborate with community organizations to provide additional support and services for families and staffApprove menus to ensure children's dietary needs are met, including food allergies and cultural sensitivityDevelop, review and revise policies and procedures to meet regulatory guidelinesPrepare reports from data sources for program, agency and fundersParticipates in parent meetings as requested to provide nutrition education and counselingProvide up-to-date information regarding USDA/CACFP policies and policy changesActively participates on Health Services Advisory CommitteeCollaborates with the kitchen team to ensure meals and menus meet children's dietary needsMaintains child files related to nutrition informationLICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Valid driver's license and / or reliable transportation.Starfish Family Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer EOE/M/F/D/V
