Position Summary

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge research environment, contribute to meaningful projects, and collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals in the field. Overall, this position will provide you with a diverse skill set and a comprehensive understanding of scientific research, materials science, and engineering principles. We are seeking a Machine Learning Intern to join our team at Antora Energy, focusing on energy forecasting applications. As a Machine Learning Intern, you will work closely with our data science and engineering teams to develop and implement machine learning algorithms for accurate energy forecasting, contributing to the optimization of our thermal battery systems and renewable energy projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

Your internship project(s) can be tailored to your specific interests and ability to work onsite. Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Research and explore various machine learning techniques and algorithms suitable for energy forecasting applications.
  • Collect, preprocess, and analyze relevant data sets, including weather data, energy production data, and historical consumption patterns.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models for energy forecasting, leveraging techniques such as time series analysis, regression, and neural networks.
  • Train and validate machine learning models using historical data and evaluate their performance using appropriate metrics.
  • Optimize and fine-tune machine learning models to improve accuracy, robustness, and scalability.
  • Integrate machine learning models into existing systems and platforms for real-time energy forecasting and optimization.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning techniques, energy forecasting methodologies, and related technologies.

Key Qualifications

  • Enrollment: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Mission: Strong motivation to address climate change through the work we do at Antora.
  • Curiosity and Learning: A strong desire to learn new concepts and methodologies and work collaboratively with mentor(s) to achieve common goals.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Empathy, sensitivity, and ability to effectively interact with a broad and diverse range of colleagues.
  • Strong background in machine learning, with coursework or experience in relevant techniques such as time series analysis, regression, and neural networks.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB for machine learning model development and implementation.
  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively about energy forecasting challenges.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage data sets and experiments effectively.

Internship Dates

  • Group 1: Monday, June 3rd - Friday, August 9th
  • Group 2: Monday, June 17th - Friday, August 23rd

Hourly Pay Range

  • $35 - $45 USD
