JOB SUMMARY:The MRI Technologist operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images using strong magnetic fields and radio waves. The MRI Technologist is a trained Radiologic Technologist who performs MRI imaging procedures.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: High School diploma or GED equivalentGraduated from a AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology Experience: Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Radiologic Technologist Licensure: Current Florida state license as a General Radiographer RT (required)- MR (preferred) (MR certification within 1 year of hire required) Registration: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification: ARRT- (R) or (R)(MR) BLS/CPR certification required within 30 days of employmentESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS:Performs MRI imaging procedures in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologistMonitors the patient's condition before and after the scan to ensure patient safetyand comfortCompletes and signs patient screening forms and explains testing procedures to patientPositions and instructs the patient about the preparation for the MRI testCompletes all exams in a timely manner, maintains work flow, and minimizes table timeKnowledge of cross- sectional anatomy of the head, thorax and abdomen, physiology, and MRI terminology, practices and proceduresBe familiar with the specific MRI coding systemsResponsible in enforcing magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operator, and visitors and complies with all safety policies and regulationsMaintains patient log, equipment service log, delivery schedule log(s) and other related statisticsMaintains current permits to practice in all states in which services are performedMaintains a clean environment inside & outside of the mobile facilityPerforms QA/QC on magnet within ACR guidelinesCalls for service and notifies pertinent team membersPerforms other duties as assigned
