Job Summary

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care independently using standards of care and policies. They provide direct nursing care to patients, assume teaching and leadership responsibilities, and participate in unit committees and quality improvement activities.

  • Perform thorough admission assessments
  • Assess patient needs and implement nursing care efficiently
  • Delegate patient care to other team members within scope of practice
  • Administer medication safely and accurately
  • Initiate patient/family teaching using effective methods
  • Evaluate care outcome and discharge planning needs
  • Document consistently in EMR
  • Prioritize patient treatment and complete care assignment efficiently

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Florida
  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Intermediate computer knowledge
  • Fetal heart monitoring competency for Labor and Delivery RNs
  • PALS certification for Pediatric RNs
  • Basic cardiology certification for NICU and Labor and Delivery RNs
