Description

We are looking for pharmacist to join our exceptional team in a Phase 1 investigational oncology clinic. The investigational pharmacist is responsible for all facets of patient safety and protocol compliance. Duties include verification of assessments and medication orders, checking and dispensing investigational drugs, conventional chemotherapy and supportive care medications provided by the Investigational Drug Section. Responsible for directly overseeing the preparation and dispensing of all medications from the IDS, including supervision of certified pharmacy technicians during preparation of IV admixtures and oral medication dosages, insuring compliance with all steps of the double check verification process prior to releasing dosages from the IDS. The pharmacist will be actively involved in the provision of pharmaceutical care including assisting with screening home medications and supplements, maintenance of current medication lists, providing patient medication education, and providing drug information to patients and the healthcare team. The pharmacist will practice with a high degree of autonomy, guided by IDS policies and quality assurance verification guidelines. Responsible for daily supervision of staff assigned to medication preparation, dispensing, and operation of the IDS in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. Review new protocols, protocol amendments and associated forms, attend the Phase I weekly meeting as required. Responsible for facilitating departmental communication by demonstrating a professional, positive, and helpful attitude in all interactions with co-workers, study sponsors and monitors. Oversee drug inventories including documentation of current inventory, projection of expected usage in concert with ordering, receiving, storage and dispensation tracking of Phase I and conventional medications. Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department which requires daily accurate documentation. This position will have some on call responsibilities.

Maintain education, skill assessment testing and competency requirements for current job title and position. Requirements include providing a true and correct copy of current pharmacy license and receipts from required continuing education (ACPE accredited courses).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy. Intravenous sterile product training preferred. Specialty residency in oncology and or board certification in oncology pharmacy is a plus.

2. Licenses: Current State of Texas Pharmacy license

3. Experience: Two years of pharmacy experience, knowledge of IV and chemotherapy medications preferred, experience with investigational protocols a plus.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Familiarity with biological safety cabinets, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, computer equipment and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat).
