A Paramedic functions as the most extensively trained primary care provider in the pre-hospital setting. The Paramedic provides both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, invasive airway management, cardiac monitoring, and administration of medications.
LOCATION: Plaquemine, LA
JOB TYPE: Full Time - 12 hour Rotating Shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for plant medical support.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments.
- Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) as needed.
- Provide general medical care and treatment to patients including administering medications, IVs (Intra-venous lines), and airway management as defined by state and local regulatory agencies.
- Neatly and accurately document pertinent patient information on all required forms/documents.
- Attend all Company required OSHA training, annual training, and all mandatory Company updates.
- Perform Point of Care (POC) testing for blood glucose levels, PT/INR (Prothrombin Time/International Normalized Ratio), etc.
- Process lab works to include paperwork and filing on a daily basis.
- Screen laboratory tests and results for normal/abnormal lab values and notify the nurse/physician.
- Assist the nurse/physician in the management and oversight of the clinic.
- Possess knowledge of treatment of chronic health problems, i.e., hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide basic first aid, preventive care, and guidance in treating a variety of common illnesses/injuries.
- Able to operate and interpret Electrocardiograms (EKG) and utilize laboratory equipment for screening and baseline measurements.
- Perform pre-employment and post-offer screenings.
- Administer post-accident drug screens (PADS).
- Complete general administrative duties as required.
- A High School diploma is required.
- National Registry EMT (NREMT) Paramedic is required.
- Certified Paramedic License for the State of Louisianaand current CPR and BLS certification.
- Ability to lift a 50lb. emergency response bag.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.
- Must have excellent judgment, be able to prioritize decisions, and act quickly in the best interest of the patient.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to direct other team members to assist as needed.
- Able to lead and support the clinic team.
- Ability to work with personnel at all levels within the organization.
- Preferred Classes: Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
