ICU Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated ICU Nurse to join our team at UNM Hospitals. As an ICU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to assigned patients and serving as a clinical leader for other staff. In addition, you will be expected to assume relief charge duties when designated and serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering safe direct care to an assigned group of patients
  • Working within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
  • Implementing and documenting individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations
  • Assisting with special tests and procedures and ensuring proper consent has been obtained
  • Participating in orientation and assuming precepting and evaluation responsibilities for new personnel
  • Instituting emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
  • Ensuring that patient medical records contain necessary information
  • Answering telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
  • Administering medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights
  • Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards
  • Enhancing professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
  • Following patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols and demonstrating a proactive approach to patient safety
  • Identifying and reporting/correcting environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
  • Encouraging patients to actively participate in their own care

Requirements:

  • Program Graduate in Nursing
  • Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate
  • RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
