Cardiac Rehab Nurse

Reports to: Nurse Manager

Anticipated Schedule: Hours: M- F 7:30-4:00. 3-4 days per week, days off will vary, 24 to 40 hours weekly.

POSITION SUMMARY: This staff nurse is responsible for the provision of high quality and cost effective patient care in fulfilling Cherokee Regional Medical Center's mission. The nurse is accountable for establishing productive work relationships with the medical staff, collaborative departments and peers. The nurse is responsive to community needs. The nurse provides leadership by maintaining standards for clinical practice, ensuring the fulfillment of hospital goals and providing clinical expertise.

* The Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the cardiac rehabilitation program. * Must be able to work independently with proven organizational skills. * Will be cross trained to Specialty Clinic and Infusion.

Education:

* Required: ADN-RN * Preferred: BSN

License/Registration/Certification:

* Required: Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa * Required: Current BLS and ACLS certification or within six months of starting position

Experience:

* Preferred: 2+ years of nursing experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Knowledge of cardiac rhythm analysis. * Knowledge base in specific area(s) of clinical practice. * Knowledge of basic principles and procedures with demonstrated ability to provide safe and effective care to patients. * Ability to work independently in the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab

department.

* Ability to direct and organize Cardio-Pulmonary program activities. * Ability to work effectively and patiently with patients. * Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. * Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. * Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with staff, patients and visitors. * Ability to learn office and organization-specific software. * Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions. * Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. * Ability to analyze and solve work related problems. * Ability to take initiative to plan and complete assigned work with a high level of accuracy. * Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations. * Knowledge of, or ability to learn, policies, procedures, and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies. * Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures. * Ability to engage patients and to create and enhance their connection to the organization. * Ability to operate personal computers with a general understanding of application software, and an understanding of the Internet.
