DescriptionThe Cherokee Regional Nurse Internship program is designed to facilitate a successful transition and exposure to the role of nursing. This Internship program provides an enhanced learning experience that promotes the knowledge and skills critical to administering quality patient care in multiple care settings.Candidate RequirementsCandidate requirements are established to promote a successful experience for both the Intern and the Preceptor. In addition to meeting the employment requirements of Cherokee Regional Medical Center applicants must:Be a nursing student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited program. Graduating anytime between December 2022 and May 2023.Must present a recommendation letter completed by a Clinical Faculty Member, along with official school transcript at the time of the interview.Must be available to participate in an internship for 8-10 weeks (May-August 2022).Available to work 24-36 hours per week.What is the purpose? Nurse internship positions are available to a limited number of highly motivated and qualified candidates. Positions are available within Acute Patient Care areas for those seeking a challenging and rewarding hospital career. Qualified applicants participate in an interview process designed to place him/her in areas of nursing practice congruent with career goals and aspirations. Interns receive hourly compensation for all program hours.How does the program work? During the internship, the Intern and Preceptors will function as a team in delivering quality patient care. Interns meet with their Preceptors and nursing leadership for an evaluation regarding progress. This evaluation will provide proactive feedback to enhance opportunities for learning and identify any barriers. stages of transitioning into nursing What is the program length?Nurse Interns will begin an 8- to 10-week summer partnership with skilled Preceptors. This gives interns the opportunity to rotate between departments (for added exposure to multiple care settings)..What are the benefits to participating?This program will give realistic experiences to support the early stages of transitioning into nursing practices. After completion, interns may choose to continue scheduling shifts within Cherokee Regional that are flexible with school and allow for continued exposures. This will also permit interns to enjoy the perks and benefits of employment at Cherokee Regional.
