Summary of Job

The School Health Aide works under the direction of the Public Health Nurse in the school setting administering medication, performing first aid as needed, and monitoring ill students.
Position works a minimum of 15 hours/ week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer medications to school children in the school setting. This may include the administration of emergency medications when called upon.
  • Receive and monitor sick children.
  • Communicate with parents.
  • Attend to students at various locations within the school when needed. This may include retrieving students from classrooms or other locations within the school premises.
  • Perform first aid procedures when needed.
  • Perform CPR when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records utilizing the electronic charting system.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence, client diagnosis, case referrals and reports.
  • Report for work as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school nurse, public health director, or school officials as needed in special circumstances.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of start date.
  • Nursing Assistant Certification (State of Wisconsin) preferred but not required.
