Diligent Robotics is searching for a Sr. Firmware & Controls Engineer to lead the design and implementation of firmware for robots. 

*This position is based in-office at our HQ in Austin, TX. Local candidates are preferred. 

Responsibilities:

  • Write and test firmware for a variety of applications, including custom PCBs
  • Develop control systems for manipulation and navigation   
  • Direct team in firmware/communication standards as well as abstraction layers in control schemes
  • Work in cross-functional capacity with the software/systems teams to deliver key system performance metrics 
  • Work closely with the senior electrical engineer to develop the optimal system communication architecture
  • Work closely with the component engineer and the board designer to ensure selected products are compatible with the firmware direction

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Experience integrating sensor systems with microcontrollers or other low level devices.
  • Background in embedded systems developing in C/C++
  • Experience in interfacing embedded components: actuators, vision systems, etc.
  • Capable of developing high quality code in an embedded environment
  • Experience in electrical prototyping, including wiring, soldering, and debugging hardware

Nice to have:

  • Expertise in control theory
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (CANBus, Ethercat, Modbus rtu, Profinet).
  • Experience developing in Zephyr RTOS
  • Embedded system controls
  • Familiarity with hardware description language (VHDL)
  • Experience in PCB Design
  • 3-5 years of experience
