Dominican regularly receives ‘A’ grades for hospital safety from Leapfrog Group, and has received national recognition for superior patient safety, cardiac care, and stroke treatment from Healthgrades, a leading provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. As Santa Cruz County’s heart attack (STEMI) receiving center, Dominican Hospital provides cutting edge cardiac care. The hospital’s heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average, and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest. Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care. **In The Community** Beyond care inside the hospital, Dominican is dedicated to the health and wellness of the Santa Cruz community. Community programs include a Mobile Wellness Clinic, a tattoo removal program, and support groups for patients and new mothers. In addition, and in accordance with our mission, Dominican Hospital supports programs for the underserved in our community, including children and adults, students, seniors, and the homeless population. Dominican also has received several awards for environmental excellence. \#RN@DH **Responsibilities** Reporting to the Director of Perinatal Services the Perinatal Safety Specialist is responsible for the implementation promotion support and oversight of perinatal patient safety and quality of care initiatives and programs. This specialized nursing role combines clinical expertise with a focus on patient safety to provide high-quality care and support to pregnant women and their families adhering to departmental institutional regional and Federal clinical and ethical standards. The perinatal safety nurse will participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance perinatal care processes and outcomes contributing to a culture of safety within the healthcare facility. The primary responsibility of the perinatal patientsafety nurse is to promote safe care for mothers and babies by keeping patient safety as a focus of all unit operations and clinical practices. **Qualifications** ● Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing required ● Master’s degree or higher preferred ● A minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women’s Services ● A minimum of 2 years of project experience in Women and Infants Perinatal Safety ● Experience with quality improvement/process improvement techniques project/program management experiencerequired ● Current RN License in applicable State ● Certification in one of the following: CCRN-NEO C-EFM RN-BC MCN RN-BC-PERI RNC [OBGYNNEONATAL] RNC-LRN RNC-MNN RNC-NIC RNC-OB C-EFM ● BLS - American Heart Association ● NRP within 90 days **Pay Range** $71.85 - $91.72 /hour We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
